Description:
Airwolf is an arcade shooter that is fiendishly addictive and difficult. Not so difficult that its impossible however. Like most early speccy games, Airwolf was not overly complicated and the objective was simple - navigate throughout the small number of rooms/stages and rescue a scientist chappy- whom you must return to the beginning of the first level. Simple, but timing was paramount in most of the screens as you fly Airwolf through lasers, between missiles, under waterfalls and other obstructions intent on your destruction!

Object:

The idea is to make your way through all the screens in order to rescue a scientist at the end of your mission and bring him back to the starting screen- where your mission resumes and you start over again with the same task.

Articles:
CRASH Magazine gave Airwolf a 87% overall rating - not a Crash Smash, but still worthy of many reviews in this and other Magazines at the time such as Sinclair User and Your Sinclair.

Overall

Each episode revolved around an advanced super helicopter- the whereabouts known only by two people and used to thwart baddies usually intent on some naughty criminal activity..

History:
The game is based on the popular eighties TV series "Airwolf" starring Jan-Michael Vincent and Ernest Borgnine. Each episode revolved around an advanced super helicopter- the whereabouts known only by two people and used to thwart baddies usually intent on some naughty criminal activity.. And so, we have Airwolf - the Speccy game.

Criticism:
Sounds easy but requires a nimble finger or two and patience. Good timing is also required in order to slip through the many barriers that will block your path into the next room or level.

Sound & Graphics:

The game lacks a decent number of levels unfortunately, but what is present is enough to keep you frustrated for many hours - but ultimately happy in your purchase. I quite liked this game: the graphics were clear and nicely animated. The level detail was also well composed and the use of colour was subtle. All in all, a good game- pity about the level shortage though.
